IP restriction makes sure Docvivo can only be accessed from the internet connections you specify, such as your office network. This article explains how to manage the IP list and covers Docvivo's other security measures.
How does it work?
- If the list of allowed IP addresses is empty, no restriction applies; anyone can sign in from anywhere.
- As soon as you add at least one address, every user in your company can sign in only from those addresses.
- Open sessions are also checked when they're renewed. A session used from an address that isn't on the list can't be renewed, and the user can't sign in again.
Adding an IP address
- Open Settings from the left menu and click Allowed IP Addresses in the Firm Settings section.
- Click New.
- Type the address in the IP address field. You can enter a single IPv4 or IPv6 address.
- Click Create.
To remove an address, select it in the list and click Delete. Copy copies the address to your clipboard.
Other security measures
- Account lockout: After repeated wrong passwords, the account is locked for a while.
- Suspending users: For a user who has left or whose access should stop, select them in the User list and click Suspend. A suspended user can't sign in; use Activate to restore their access.
- Roles and permissions: Each user sees only the menus and records their role allows. Details: Add users and manage roles and permissions.
- Changing passwords: Every user can change their own password under Profile → Change Password.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find my office's IP address?
Your internet provider or IT team can tell you. Use a static IP address for IP restriction; if your address changes, sign-ins from the new address won't be possible.
What should teammates who work from home do?
You need to add the addresses they connect from to the list as well. If you want to lift the restriction, delete every address on the list.
Nobody can sign in. What should I do?
An administrator who can sign in from an allowed address can fix the list. If that's not possible, contact our team.
